Snow Canyon 5k Girls Weekend!

So for an excuse to have a girls weekend I decided to "train" for a 5k. (I know, you don't train for a 5k-you just do it.) 5 of us from the ward took off to St. George last weekend with no Hubbies or Kiddos. Jeni, Jami, & Mandy ran the 1/2 marathon (you couldn't pay me to do that) while Bobbi & I ran the 5k. I was so proud that 1- we ran the entire time & 2- neither of us passed out and/or threw up at the end!

So where do you go to celebrate such an occasion? In & Out of course!

Of course our feet were so sore from the races that we just had to have a pedicure!

And on to more eating at Texas Roadhouse.

It is amazing that the entire trip we NEVER stopped talking. When you don't have to referee kids or stop to change diapers, get sippys, kiss owies, etc, the conversation just keeps flowing! Thanks to Jami's parents for letting us stay at their house and to Jeni who drove the ENTIRE time! I did have to to park the MAV (Mormon Assault Vehicle) once and decided I can never own one for the safety of my Family:)

Trunk or Treat

We had our ward "Trunk or Treat" last Saturday and we had a blast! Matt & Mandy went as the Flintstones and talked us in to going as the Rubbles. Thanks to the Stevens for letting us borrow the costumes!

Don't worry-Brad said he is going to "kick his own butt" for wearing a dress!
I could not believe that Carson actually kept his hat on and held the bat the WHOLE time, although we did have an issue with him hitting other kids :(

"Betty & Bam Bam"

Tiger, Pebbles, & Bam Bam

It was actually kinda sad - quite a few of the kids in the ward didn't even know who we were. We we would tell them "The Flintstones" and they would say "Oh, those one cartoons on the commercials?" What is the world coming to!

Fall Fun

We went to Gardner Village with the kidos to see all the witched and they loved it. Especially the Hulo Hoop witch!

My sister Anna & I went up to Logan to see my other sister Nanci and to visit my Grandpa yesterday. We have 4 boys between us and they had a ton of fun. We only had a break up a few fights:)

Oh ya - We have been moved and uplifted this week - our house that is!! We are done with the "hard part" they say. Now we just have to fix all the cosmetic stuff.

5 years! Wow, we are getting old...

Its hard to believe that it has been 5 years since we tied the knot. It goes by so fast! Its weird to think that just five years ago...
1. Brad was starting his last year at BYU - with his eyes set on law school (ya, I talked him out of that one - I was sick of school!)
2. I was working as a Real Estate Agent for Salisbury Homes - its hard to remember the days of dressing up, attending meetings, working with adults....
3. We were living in a small apartment in Provo with no dishwasher but plenty of cockroaches.
4. I couldn't cook a meal to save my life (not much has changed there) I can still remember how nice Brad would be about eating crap:)
5. We went to the movies pretty much every weekend - sometimes even on a WEEK NIGHT.

So...even though life is much different now with The Job, Kid, House, etc. I wouldn't change any of it for anything!

So how do you celebrate such an occasion? Where it all started... VEGAS BABY! (j/k we had never been there together until this weekend:)

This is the only picture we have of us together, we are in front of the New York, New York. And if you can believe it, us old folks rode on the rollercoaster you see in the backround!

We went to some pretty cool shows, our favorite was KA by Cirque du Soluie (sp?) I have never seen anything like it!

Thanks to Scott & Anna, Mom, Nolan, & Ryan for watching Carson so we could have a little Brad & Janette time!

I know this is kind of corny but I found this valentines day card that I wrote to Brad before we got married. Since I still feel exactly the same here it is....

Top Ten Reasons I Am Thankful For My BABY!
1. You are in every way my truest bestest friend in the whole entire world!
2. You do your very best to try and understand this over-emotional, irrational, crazy person.
3. You call me in the middle of the night just to tell me that you are thinking about me.
4. You warm up my car and scrape the windows when you know I won't think to do it.
5. You wipe off the junk I seem to get all over my face and clothes and say "baby you're a wreck"
6. You come country dancing just because you know it is something I love.
7. You make me feel like you are always listening to what I have to say with sincere interest.
8. I can show you any side of me and i know that you will still talk to me.
9. Even thought I come with a lot of baggage you are willing to help me sort through it
10. You are a good kisser!

Okay.... so maybe a few things have changed but you get the idea!
Love you babe!

Anyone need a Porta Potty?

If you are ever out on a walk/run and really gotta go feel free to use ours! And ladies - don't worry, as you can see from the pictures this is for BOTH men & women.

This is the gaping hole that was once our flower bed:(

Who wouldn't love coming home to this every night?

Just in case the neighbors are wondering when the noise will stop - there is an end in sight! They are moving much faster than we ever expected. They will be done setting all but 5 of the piers next Tuesday. At that point we have to have a footing poured underneath the bearing wall in our basement so they can finish the last of the piers. It takes a couple weeks to cure so it will be nice and quiet for a while! Then just a few more days to set the rest of the piers and lift the house and they are pretty much done, yeah!!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Last Thursday was my Dad's birthday. We went out to the Timbermine for dinner. They gave us a huge room all to ourselves and it was a good thing because the boys were able to get some energy out by running around!

Our Crumble Abode!

Well, the big day has finally arrived. After a year of waiting and waiting and waiting they started work on our house yesterday! Anyone who has been to our house in the last year have most likely had "the tour" as we call it of the damage that has been done to our home due to extreme settling issues. We first started noticing the doors not shutting, huge drywall cracks and some heaving cracks in our foundation. My little neighbor Mckinley put it best when seeing one of our cracks gasped & said " Janette! Your house is broken!"

Fortunately when we bought our home the lender required that the builder purchase a 2/10 home warranty for us. Had we not had this we would be SOL (so outta luck). It has taken over a year to process the claim and we are finally seeing some action.

They are in the process of "lifting" our house. They have to tear out the whole basement floor and install 50 push piers that basically act like stilts. They are pushed down to "real dirt" where there will be enough pressure to lift the house.

This process takes about six weeks. So even though it is really loud around here we are just excited to get it done! It still amazes me that 3" of sinkage (not sure if that is the right term but whatever) can cause so much damage.

Kade's Baby Blessing

Kade, Jed & Nanci's little guy was blessed today. It was so great to be with family for such a special event.

Kris and all her girls (and Kade)

We felt bad for always doing "sister" pictures so we let my brother in on this one!

This is a bad picture of us but I love Carson's little head trying to get in the picture. (Well big head- he is in the 90th percentile)

BYU Game

Last Saturday we got to go to Happy Valley (Provo) and pretend like we were newly weds all over again. Our friends Matt & Mandy had some extra tickets and invited us (Thanks!) to the BYU - Northern Iowa game. I'll admit it was the snowies & nachos that got me there and boy was it worth it! Brad really enjoyed the game and I was able to jab Mandy's ear off instead of his!

Brad's parents made the whole thing possible by watching the little munchkin for us.(Also Thanks!) Carson loves to play with Grandpa and Grammy so we didn't feel too bad leaving him home:)

We had another little B-day celebration for the boys, Sue made a cake and we tried to get Carson to wear the birthday hat but he was having none of that! Grandpa is holding it on for the picture and that is as good as we could get.

p.s. I swear Carson does wear a shirt sometimes!

Happy Birthday C-Mac!

Carson turned 2 yesterday! I can't believe how fast time goes. He has all of the sudden started talking our ears off! My favorite is "burp". He says it when he burps, sneezes or hiccups. We started out the festivities last Sunday at my mom's house.

No, I did not make this cake - my amazing sister Annalee created the Masterpiece! (I know when to leave it to the pros.)

Carson opening presents. The first one he opened was a ball so it was a little hard getting him interested in the other ones:)

The boys chowing down on cake. It can't believe I got all three of them to look at the camera at the same time.

On Carson's actually Birthday my friend Mandy and her kids came to Wendy's and the Aquarium with us. This is at Wendy's - they couldn't quite figure out how to open the door. Thanks Mandy for braving our little outing with me!

Brad got off of work really early (6:30) and we decided to take Carson out for a night on the town. We haven't taken Carson to a sit down restaurant for quite some time thanks to our babysitting co-op and we weren't sure how he was going to handle it. He was so good - I still can't believe it - he even gave everyone a little dance show in the isle before we left. Mostly it was just good to have Brad for the night. He has a big deadline coming up and has been working until 9:00 the past few nights.

THE BIG 28!

Happy Birthday Brad!
Yesterday was Brad's big day. He got to sleep in (7:30) and just lounge around watching the Olympics all morning. We drove up Provo Canyon, had lunch and played in the river. I made Brad's favorite for Dinner - Stove Top Chicken (when I say favorite I mean the only thing I know how to make!) We watched a movie and called it a day.

Provo Canyon

We went up Provo Canyon this week to a great spot where the river is very shallow (and very cold!) and there is grass all along the bank. Carson was pretty brave about it and didn't seem to mind the cold too much. He thought it was pretty funny to throw his shoes in and watch me chase them down the river.

Lagoon

We went to Lagoon this Saturday with my family and it was more fun than I ever expected. I haven't been in about 10 years and they have added some pretty cool stuff. They have added a tone of rides to the kid area. Carson liked most of them - he did not like the Egg Drop. It is basically a mini version of the Rocket and I even got a little scared! Brad like Wicked most of all - he got to ride it 3 times, I on the other hand waited in the line and chickened out at the last second. It was fun to be with family and Aunt Denise took the kids home for nap time so we got a whole afternoon to ride the "Big Kid" rides.

This is the "Roar" as Carson calls anything that looks like a Tiger, Bear, Dragon, Monster, Etc.

I felt like the worst mom for taking Carson on this one. His little arms were shaking so hard and he had a death grip on the bar.

Carson liked the Merry go Round until the Dog started moving up and down!

Carson and Jacob just chillin'
